Nasarawa confirms 5 new coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Health, Nasarawa state, Friday, confirmed five new cases of coronavirus in the state, even as awareness campaign has been intensified.

Briefing journalists in Lafia, the Commissioner for Health, Pharmacist Ahmed Yahaya, said one of the victims was a man who just returned from Lagos state.

He said the man was showing signs of sneezing, coughing and high temperature and was reported to the authorities.

“The victim travelled to Lagos to bring a vehicle for someone and when he returned started manifesting signs after some days.”

He said the man reported himself when he noticed the signs on his family members and himself and they were moved to the isolation centre at the Federal Medical Center(FMC) Keffi.”

The commissioner, however, said the suspected victims’ condition was stable as samples of their blood had been taken to National Disease Control Centre (NDCC) Abuja for clinical test.

Yahaya called on residents not to panic, but imbibe hygienic life-style to avoidi and spreading the coronavirus, adding that the ministry was working hand in hand with other major stakeholders in the transport sector towards intensive awareness campaign.
