Nasarawa assembly charges commission on optimum productivity

The chairman of Nasarawa state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Daniel Ogah Ogazi, Thursday charged the management of the state Teachers Service Commission on optimum productivity.

Ogazi (APC Kokona East) gave the charged during the committee’s oversight function in Lafia.

He said the committee would support the commission in addressing some of its challenges for effective service delivery.

“This function that we are carrying is to ensure discipline, training and retraining of teachers for optimum productivity”.

He added that as a commission saddled with the responsibility of ensuring recruitment, promotions, discipline, and training and retraining of teachers, it must be seen delivering its responsibility to complement government effort.

Earlier, the commission’s executive chairman, Abdullahi Abu Galadima, spoke to the committee on the details of the ongoing screening of newly recruited secondary school teachers.

He said the exercise was aimed at ensuring that only qualified candidates are given appointment, even as he appreciated the committee and the state government’s support for the success of the exercise.
