NaijaTimes publisher charges Nigerians on national ethics

The Publisher/ Editor-in-Chief of NaijaTimes, Ehi Braimah has harped on the need to protect our tribes and where we come from by embracing national ethics to achieve the objective of a united Nigeria.

Braimah who stated this during a lecture and book presentation of NaijaTimes, with the theme: “Journalism in the Service of the Society” in Abuja, said the starting point is to think Nigeria first, in everything that we do.

According to him, his major concern is making Nigeria a better place, this is the motivation for setting up NaijaTimes which rest on three main pillars, building strong institutions, respect for the rule of law and defending the public interest.

He said the elite conspiracy against Nigeria at all levels is a mortal sin and the major achievement of these enemies of Nigeria.

He further expressed concern that the elite have turned Nigeria into a huge crime scene. ‘Perherps sociologist can explain why primitive accumulation of wealth is seen as a contest for misbegotten medal”.

Braimah said: “The book will be a valuable resource for media practitioners, communications specialists, political leaders, strategists and consultants, CEOs, public policy analysts, civil servants, parliamentarians, legal practitioners, human rights activists, bankers and financial analysts, researchers, scholars, students, sports administrators, entrepreneurs and captains of industry, diplomats, economists as well as public affairs commentators.”

Also, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Victor Attah has urged journalist to shun material gains and abide by the honest ethics of the journalism profession, stating that Nigerian journalist has done well for itself.

Attah said that this book is about a better society, even though Nigerian union of journalist is perfect, they can still have a more perfect union.

In his words, “In Nigeria we have been far from perfect, the society needs to improve and it is only the journalist that can do that, they can do it by telling the people the things going wrong, they are to give the society warning signals and this should not be interfered with by the society.

“Nigerian journalist has suffered, they have tried, they have done well but some of you have sold out, let us be honest with ourselves, with the way they sing praises of people some journalist are worst than politicians,” he said.
