More ministers mull defection

All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government under president Mohammed Buhari, is about losing a cabinet member to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
A source close to Minister of Women Affairs and Child Development, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan, confided in Blueprint that “she is on her way out of the ruling party.
According to the source, her decision is born out of the disagreement between the minister and the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole on one hand and her disagreements with her fellow contestants in Taraba state on the other hand.
The source explained further that a meeting to resolve pending issues in the party in Taraba state bothering on the crises generated from the ward and local government congresses at the instance of the national chairman of the party was snubbed by the minister.
According to the source, the day of the meeting was the same day senator Aisha Alhassan decided to fly to the United Kingdom and dam the consequences.
The main agenda of the proposed meeting was to let the stakeholders share the Party delegates in the state, the arrangement the minister is not comfortable with but the party national chairman insisted the stakeholders are too critical to be ignored.
The other stakeholders fourteen of them including two former acting governors and two serving senators in the state disagreed with the minister when she single handedly appointed the executives of the party from ward to local government and state levels.
When contacted, the minister denied knowledge of the meeting called by the national working committee of APC, she also said it’s not true that she appointed the APC structure in the state but insisted that all were duly elected by the party members in the state.
Speaking through her media assistant Abubakar Maina, the minister declined comment on whether or not she was on her way to meet her mentor and former vice president Atiku Abubarka in opposition PDP.
But our source insisted that the minister deliberately ignored the national leadership of the party as her interest is no longer in the party.
Though she was not part of the reconciliation and harmonization, the national chairman requested the stakeholders to bring in there inputs on the delegates from Taraba for consideration.
