Zamfara: Matawalle signs 2023 appropriation bill into law

Zamfara state governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle on Friday December 2022 signed the 2023 budget into law.

At the signing ceremony, Governor Matawalle stated that the budget reflects his commitment to the people of the state.

According to him, apart from security and social support, which take the lion share in the 2023 budget, his administration had allocated significant resources towards the improvement of education sector, with a focus on increasing access to quality education for children.

He added that priority was also given to the development of healthcare system, with a focus on improving access to healthcare services in rural areas across the state.

Matawalle pointed out that his government had allocated funding towards the development of infrastructural projects that will help to stimulate economic growth and create jobs for our people.

“These projects include the completion of the ongoing cargo airport project and the construction of new roads, bridges, and other infrastructure that will help to connect our communities and facilitate the movement of goods and services,” he said.

He maintained that social support is one of the key priorities of his administration in the coming year.

“This involves significant investments in social programs that will benefit our people directly which include initiatives to support small scale businesses, as well as programs that aim to reduce poverty and increase access to basic necessities such as clean water and electricity,” he said.

“I am confident that these investments will have a positive impact on the lives of the people of Zamfara State, and I believe that they represent a strong foundation upon which we can build a brighter future for our State in the coming years,” he said.

Governor Matawalle called on civil servants, who are responsible for the implementation of public policies and programmes, political office holders, and all government officials to brace up for the crucial task of implementing the year 2023 budget.

He also thanked people of the state for their unflinching support to his administration.

“We have seen a wonderful show of love and support within the past few days since we started our electioneering campaigns,” he said.

In his remarks, the Speaker Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya, thanked the governor for his support.

Magarya assured that the state law makers will remain resolute in working hand in hand with judiciary and executive arms of government for the development of the state.
