March 11, 2023: Campaign council speaks on Supreme Court stopping Rivers PDP governorship candidate from contest

Reports that the official flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s governorship election, Simminalayi Fubara, will be prevented from participating in the March 11, 2023 elections by the Supreme Court is fake.

Also fake is the claim that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dropped Fubara of PDP from the list of party flag bearers taking part in the said election.

The PDP said in a statement issued Monday night in Port Harcourt by the Director of Publicity and Communications, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, that there is no iota of truth in the so-called breaking news circulating in the social media.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fictitious publication in the social media claiming that the Supreme Court has renounced the right of the official flag bearer of the Rivers PDP flag bearer, Fubara to participate in Saturday’s governorship election.

“We have also heard that peddlers of fake information of the social media are also claiming that the lNEC has delisted the name of Fubara who is the standard bearer of the PDP in the forthcoming election.

The PDP wishes to state for the avoidance of doubt that the so-called breaking news released by a faceless group of person’s is completely fake.

“We want to place on record that Fubara is on the ballot and so, will contest the March 11, 2023 election,” the statement reads in part.
