Man arraigned for ‘hacking’ boss’s account

A middle aged man, Ayodele Isaac, was Friday arraigned before Justice Peter Lifu of a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state, for allegedly hacking into the account of his boss.

The prosecution from the state Ministry of Justice, Mr Moses Faremi, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence sometimes in June 2017 at opposite Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, OAUTHC, phase 11, Ile-Ife.

The charge sheet stated that the defendant hacked into the account of one Folashade Ajilore and stole N1,529,000.

The offence was said to be contrary to section 1C of the Advance Free Fraud, 2010.

Meanwhile, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the allegation of advance free fraud preferred against him.

His counsel, J. A. Adekunle, prayed the court to admit the defendant on bail pending the determination of the matter, assuring that his client will not abuse the opportunity if granted bail.

He referred the Judge to section 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, and presumption of innocent of the defendant as enshrined in section 36(5) of the 1999 constitution amended.

Justice Lifu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2million with two sureties in like sum. The court held that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 10.
