LG polls: Police restrict movement in Enugu

The police in Enugu have informed the general public that there would be restriction of vehicular movement on Saturday as a result of the local government elections taking place in the state.

They stated that, “There will be restriction of human and vehicular movements on February 29, 2020, between the hours of 8am and 4pm.”

A statement issued by the police image-maker, Daniel  Ndukwe, indicated that the restriction was to facilitate the smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections.

It also indicated that the restriction excluded those on essential or special duties with appropriate proves, such as medical service providers, Fire Service personnel on duty as well as those on emergencies and election duties.

“The Command, therefore, enjoins the electorate and the indigenes to go out on the day of the elections and exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation or harassment,” the statement read in part.

The statement further enjoined the public to abide by all the rules and regulations guiding the elections, as the Command “will ensure adequate provision of security and a level-playing ground for all the political parties during and after the exercise.”
