LG polls: Nasarawa declares today public holiday

Nasarawa state government has declared today as work free, to enable residents prepare for the forth-coming local government elections scheduled for tomorrow.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hajiya Zainab Abdulmumini, and emailed to newsmen yesterday said that the public holiday was to allow residents prepare adequately for the exercise.

“In order to allow for adequate preparations and full participation of citizens and residents of the state in this very important exercise, His Excellency, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Governor of Nasarawa state, has approved Friday 21 March 2014 as a work-free day in the state,” it said.
The statement solicited “for the cooperation of all and sundry, to ensure a-hitch free exercise in the state”.
