Kwara workers receive May salary

Following the directives of the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that May salary be paid immediately, civil servants across the state Monday started receiving their salaries.

According to the press statement signed by the deputy chief press secretary to the governor, Agboola Olarewaju, the approval covers payment to workers in Civil Service, Teaching Service, Pensioners, Parastatals including the three state owned media houses.

The statement also confirmed the payment of salaries to State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) teachers, Local Government workers and pensioners.

The statement disclosed that a total sum of N3.2 billion statutory allocation was received by the Kwara State government as federal allocation for the month of May, out of this, N2.2 billion went into payment of state workers and pensioners, all of whom got their full remuneration for the month.

It further stated that the entire money that came for various local governments also went directly into paying them their salaries which cover only 85% of their salaries.

The statement clarified that Kwara state government has taken no kobo from the local government funds in line with the new directive separating state funds from that of local government. “Kwara will observe this regulation to the letter,” it added.
