Kwankwaso bags ALM Africa Person of the year award

Former governor of Kano state and Senator representing Kano Central, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have been conferred with the African Leadership Magazine, United Kingdom (ALM) Africa persons of the year award.
Kwankwaso also received the congressional commendation from the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus at the event held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The former governor, who emerged second runner-up in the December 2014 All Progressive Congress ( APC) held in Lagos joined the league of other distinguished African leaders who received over the years.

Other winners of the award include former President of Ghana, John Mahama, South Africa’s First Lady H.E Bongi Ngema-Zuma, Mr. Mohammed Dewyi, Tanzania’s youngest billionaire and other distinguished Africans.
Commenting on the award, chairman of the international advisory board of the ALM awards Ambassador Joe Beasley, Senator Kwankwaso was awarded in recognition of his outstanding leadership excellence as well as his immense contributions to education and human capacity development during his tenure as governor of Kano state.

Past recipients of the prestigious award include Dr. Mo Ibrahim, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia and President Jakada Kikwete of Tanzania.
The ALM person of the year awards, according to the organisers, is in keeping with a tradition of presenting the positive sides of the African continent, which hardly find space on the global stage, and celebrating exemplary leadership and individuals who have contributed to shaping the global perception of the African continent.
