Kuje’s Greater Tomorrow club win Atiku Unity Cup

Greater Tomorrow of Kuje are the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) champions of Atiku Unity Cup following their 5-4 defeat of Mighty Jets of Kwali in a keenly contested final played on Sunday at the Turf Arena Sports Center, Abuja.

The Atiku Unity Cup football tournament put together by the Democratic Initiative Support Group (DISG) is targeted at galvanising youth support for People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for the 2023 presidential elections.

Speaking to newsmen before the final match, the convener of Democratic Initiative Support Group (DISG) and coordinator of Atiku Unity Cup, Adewale Austin Arobani, said the competition was in tandem with PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar aspiration of stabilise the country’s unity and called on the leadership and chieftains of the party to the initiative.

“We have postonned this event like three times but today, be November 20, 2022, we were able to flag off the championship and you can see the performance of the teams.

“We had a series of knock-outs played before arriving in the final match between Greater Tomorrow and Mighty Jet of Kwali where the winner will represent FCT in the North-central final.

“We have spent enormous resources to get to this level and there are calls from across the country to partake in the championship.

“We expect the PDP leadership and the party’s chieftains to support us to achieve the desired results,” Arobani said.
