Kuje council chair reaffirms goodies for residents

The chairman, Kuje area council, Alhaji Abdullahi Danladi Galadima, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improve the lives and welfare of the people of the Council. Galadima made this known when he paid a solidarity visit to the victims of windstorm in Kwaku village, a suburb of the area council, on Sunday. “I sincerely thank God that there was no life lost and I want the victims to continue to pray to God for sustainable life,” he said.
He appealed to FCT administration to provide the Kuje council with the necessary facilities to enable it to face the impending challenges of the day, adding that it would enhance the Council’s coordinating activities. Galadima appealed to the residents of the area to imbibe the couture of disaster risk reduction by embarking on planting of trees to mitigate windstorm and rainstorm disasters. He assured the victims that, the Council in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) “will do everything humanly possible” to touch their lives for better. Several indigenes of Kwaku village have been rendered homeless following a violent windstorm that wrecked havoc on the village.
The incident which occurred last week caught many of them unawares, as attempt to rescue some of their belongings was hindered. A pathetic scene was left on its trail as many houses, churches, schools, health centres had their roofs blown off and deposited far from their homes. Speaking to Blueprint, the village head of Kwaku, Alhaji Abubakar Ishaku, thanked the chairman for the visit saying that, the visit was timely and brought a lot of relief to the entire village. He appealed the chairman of the Council to come to their aid. One of the indigenes, a victim, Mr. Pada Zaka, said: “Our homes have been destroyed; we have no roof over our houses and head. We need help from anybody, as you can see we lost virtually all our belongings and we are fully exposed to further disaster.”
