Kerosene seller survives suffocation accident in Imo

Death was averted yesterday morning, when a kerosene seller at World Bank Housing Estate Market in Owerri was rescued from suffocation by his colleagues.
Blueprint gathered that the seller, simply known as Ben, had gone into a big kerosene tank with a small opening on top, for the routine tank- washing before new consignment of kerosene would be pumped in.
But after some minutes of operation, he became unconscious and could no longer be heard or communicated with.

Our correspondent further learnt that it took the determined effort of a senior colleague who instructed others to wait for Ben’s hands while he jumped into the tank to carry him up.
At that point, Ben had become exhausted as a result of the tank’s hotness and lack of fresh air therein.
When he was eventually brought out, he was slightly breathing in and out with saliva gushing out from his mouth.
After pouring sachets of pure water on him, he was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where, it was learnt, oxygen was provided to aid his recovery.
