Kebbi state Governor, Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has announced a donation of N50 million to the Vigilance Group of Nigeria, VGN, to bolster its services.
In addition, the government will reinforce the security outfit with tactical operational gadgets and logistics for effective performance.
The Governor was speaking in Birnin Kebbi at the launch of an appeal fund by the Group to energise its operations.
He commended the vigilante members for complementing the operations of conventional security services in securing lives and property of the populace.
Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris further expressed appreciation to other security forces for surmounting the challenges of insecurity in some parts of the state which enabled farmers to resume cultivation of their farmlands, hitherto abandoned due to banditry.
The Governor used the occasion to bring glad tidings to the people of the state of distribution of 200 truck load of grains to all communities procured by his administration to cushion the effect of present economic hardship nationwide.
