Kano state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Binta Tijjani Jibril, has expressed the resolve of Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s administration to continue investing a lot of resources in youth development.
A statement said the commissioner made the assertion when she paid a visit to Borstal Institute, Kaduna.
Jibril, who identified youth as the bed rock of the nation, said the administration of Governor Kwankwaso was paying much attention towards improving the lives of the youth, especially through the provision of sound education within and outside the country.
She assured of the existing cordial relationship with Borstal Institute in view of its importance in reforming youth who engaged in negative social attitude.
She added that the purpose of the visit was to intimate students of Kano state about their problems, and inspired them to change their attitude for them to have a sense of belonging in the society.
She also called for the principal’s cooperation and moral advice in running Kano Reformatory Institute, Kiru, akin to Borstal Institute.
She also donated some items to the 26 students from the state currently undergoing reformatory course in the institute.
Earlier, the Principal of Borstal Institute, Kaduna, Dr. Dora Ofobrukwetal, expressed appreciation over the visit which she described as “encouraging,” adding that only Kano state government had shown concern for its children by paying regular visits to the institute and called on other states to emulate.
She then congratulated the Commissioner for the successful establishment of Kano Reformatory Institute, Kiru, and pledged to extend their unflinching support and cooperation in the fight against drug abuse, particularly in Kano and the country as a whole.
