Kaltungo LG Chairman backs 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup

In a move towards enhancing sports infrastructure, the Caretaker Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government Council, Hon. Faruk Umar, has vowed to conduct essential groundwork on the Obasanjo Stadium in Kaltungo ahead of the 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup.

This commitment aims to ensure a conducive environment for the competing players, thereby reducing the risk of injuries during the tournament.

The announcement came during a courtesy visit by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) members to the Chairman’s residence on Tuesday.

Hon. Faruk, who previously chaired the organising committee for the first to fourth editions of the competition, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting the upcoming tournament in any way possible.

“I am delighted that the year is drawing to a close, and as part of our contribution, we will ensure necessary groundwork on the field to provide a safe playing surface for players,” he stated.

Acknowledging the Chairman’s continuous support towards the growth of the competition, Promise Uwaeme, current Chairman of the Organising Committee, expressed gratitude and emphasised the need for additional support as the 8th edition’s activities are set to commence.

“We appreciate your consistent support for the development of this competition. As the committee, we believe it is crucial to officially inform you that we are initiating activities for the 8th edition. Our activities will start on Wednesday with a Press Conference, draws, and an opening ceremony,” Uwaeme highlighted.

However, Uwaeme took the opportunity to appeal for further assistance from the Local Government Area, specifically in addressing the stadium’s playing field.

“We seek additional support from the LGA, particularly in improving the stadium’s facilities. It is imperative to address the need for field maintenance before the competition commences, and we are confident that the Chairman will assist us in this regard,” he said.

The 8th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup has kicked off its activities with a Press Conference scheduled for Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Jewel Hotel in Kaltungo.
