Kaduna: Zango Kataf LG chair renews commitment to sustain peace

The chairman, Zango Kataf local government area, Mr. Francis Sani, has reaffirmed his council’s commitment to partner any group that will strengthen peace and build trust amongst communities.

Sani stated this weekend in Zonkwa, during a one- day Community Town Hall meeting on Building Trust, Sustainable

Development and Women Inclusion in Peace Processes, organised by Global Rights in collaboration with the Kukah Centre and Community Dialogue Committee (CDC), Zango Kataf local government area.

The chairman spoke through his special adviser, Peace and Conflict Resolution and special duties, Mr. Mugu Zakka Bako. He commended the people of the local government over the relative peace enjoyed in the area.

He applauded the organisation for choosing 25 women and youth across the local government, who were trained on different skills on how to improve on peace in troubled communities of the local government.

Earlier, the program manager, Global Rights, Mr. Edosa Oviawe, said the project also aims to build community resilience and increase civic participation in the North-west by situating women and women’s issues at the forefront of civic engagement and community peace-building efforts.

He tasked community members to join hands together to build resilience security architecture in their communities.

In a keynote address, the secretary, Zango Kataf Community Dialogue Committee, Mrs. Cecilia Bakut, noted that insecurity has push so many families into abject poverty and hunger and as such, all hands must be on deck to fight the enemies of peace.
