All the 23 elected local government chairmen and their 255 councilors in Kaduna state will be removed from their posts as their tenure expires on November 30, 2014, a credible source told our reporter yesterday in Kaduna.
The expected expiration of their tenure, our reporter gathered, would be in accordance with the Kaduna State Local Government Councils Administration Law passed by Kaduna state House of Assembly and signed into law by executive arm of the state recently.

Also on the list were all vice chairmen and secretaries of the 23 local governments along with other political appointees in the councils.

The chairmen are expected to hand over affairs of their councils to most senior career civil servants in their councils.
The source, a principal officer of Kaduna state House of Assembly who spoke on the condition of anonymity said: “The tenure of all 23 local government chairmen and 255 councilors will expire on the last day of this month, November 30, 2014, in accordance with the law dealing with the affairs of local government in the state. This is the little I can say.”

The present local government chairmen were sworn in on December 3, 2012, by the late Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa after state-wide local government election held on December 1, 2012, which was organised by Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM).

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 22 local government chairmen, while All Progressive Congress (APC) has one local government chairman out of 23 councils with scores of councilors.
