Kaduna Rotary clubs donate to Correctional Service, orphanage

The seven Rotary Clubs in Kaduna have donated clothing, drugs, blankets, shoes, food items, toiletries to officials and inmates of Nigerian Correctional Service Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kaduna.

Rotary Club of Kaduna, Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolis, Rotary Club of Kakuri, Rotary Club of Barnawa, Rotary Club of Kawo, Rotary Club of Malali and Rotary Club of Gonin Gora also extended their hands of fellowship to the Jamiyar Matan Arewa (JMA) Orphanage where the orphans benefited toiletries, clothing, diapers, milk, children food to touch the lives of the children.

Speaking at the Correctional Service, Rotary president-elect and chairman of Projects, Abdulazeez Abdumalik, said, “We brought these items clothing, consumables, blankets, shoes, food items, toiletries to the service and inmates as part of yearly programme and project in Rotary to touch lives by so doing to touch our brothers and sisters who are here and the service who are carrying out their duty to the nation.”

Responding to the visitors, the Deputy Comptroller of Correctional Service, DCC Salihu Abdullahi, thanked Rotary Clubs in Kaduna for their support.

He said, “This is not an organisation that gets the best attention from government; we are forced to rely on NGOs and humanitarian organisations like Rotary Club.”

Addressing the Jamiyar Matan Arewa Orphanage, Abdumalik said, “We are here to present our widow’s mite in commemoration of feeding and clothing the needy. For the past four or five years we have made it a tradition to assist in raising the children that you have here. We feel we have to come here to present these token food items to assist in taking care of the children.”

President of Jamiyar Matan Arewa, Hajiya Rabi Musa Saulawa, thanked Rotary for their support.

“We are happy and we appreciate your effort in remembering that we are NGO and we need support. I pray that Rotary will continue with all these good deeds. We are grateful,” she said.
