Kaduna: IPAC gets new chairman


Mikailu Abubakar of the New Progressive Movement (NPM) has been elected chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) of Nigeria, Kaduna state.
He emerged victorious after beating his opponent, Bello Abdulrahman by 43 to 36 votes in a keenly contested election held at the premises of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Kaduna state headquarters.


Speaking after the election, Abubakar assured all political parties of being carried along. “We are ready to discharge our duties, to earn the confidence you bestowed on us and hope to work with all political parties based on the principles of respect, fairness, unity of purpose to promote IPAC among all political parties for the betterment of political activities political dividends in Kaduna state,” he said.


The new Kaduna state IPAC chairman said that the newly elected executive accept responsibilities bestowed on them and would strictly adhere to the code of conduct. “We have accepted the responsibilities assigned to us by the code of conduct of IPAC in line with INEC procedures and overall constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria.”


He called on all elected officials to work together in harmony and in accordance with the code of conduct of IPAC, noting that is the only way they can succeed together and prove their ability to unite all political parties in Kaduna state. He acknowledged the support given to him, without which his success would not have been achieved.


“My appreciation goes to Alhaji Umar Mairakunmi, Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman, Alhaji Muhammad Sani, chairman and members of governor’s forum, campaign team, my party, New Progressive Movement and Alhaji Mustapha Bala Getso for their support which ensure our success today.”
Others elected are Hajiya Hadiza Dahum as Deputy Chairman 1, Ambassador Matoh as Deputy Chairman 2, Honourable Isa Hassan as Secretary, Engineer Aliyu Ibrahim, Deputy Secretary, Engineer Ashiru A. Musa, Financial Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Wusono (Organising Welfare Secretary) and Abdullahi Garba (Publicity Secretary).


Others are Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala (Audit Control Officer), Comrade John Yayock Solomon (Youth Policy Adviser), Shehu Abubakar (Treasurer), Sylvania Yahaya (Legal Adviser) and Mrs. Emelda Yashim (Gender and Disability Adviser).
