Kaduna: Foundation commences skills acquisition centre for vulnerable people

The building of Dorcas Danladi Skills Acquisition Centre that will be targeting poor widows, school dropouts and other vulnerable people in the society has commenced in Kaduna.

This was disclosed during the groundbreaking ceremony of the centre held during the week at Kafanchan Road, opposite primary school, Samban Gida in Kwoi, Jaba local government area of Kaduna state.

Addressing journalists during the ceremony at Sambam Gida in Jaba local government area of Kaduna state, the founder of Caleb Danladi foundation, Capt. Caleb Danladi, stated that the centre would target mainly the less privileged, school dropout, students, widows, youth and other vulnerable people in the society.

He said the centre was named after his late younger sister, late Dorcas Danladi who passed away about a month ago.

He added that the centre was to fulfill his late sister’s dream whose passion was to render help to the less-privileged.

He added that the centre is a historical project, particularly for his immediate family, the community and the state.

“Just exactly a month today, my sister passed away. Part of her passion in life was to do something similar to skills acquisition centre where she can be able to render help. Unfortunately, her life was cut short and was unable to achieve that dream. But we don’t want that dream to go unrealised, so we decided to come together to build this center in her memory.

“All modalities have already been put in place for the sustainability of the project in line with every NGO’s plan.

“This project is targeted at impacting meaningfully on the entire community, local government, and the state in general,” Caleb stated.

He restated the growing focus on entrepreneurial and skills acquisition training in education curriculum.

“Basically this foundation centre is going to go far in delivering one of the key federal government plans by empowering youth and women in particular with skills needed in the 21st century to carter for themselves, the community development and development goals.

“The poor performance of the recent JAMB results is not because they’re not knowledgeable but because of lack of actual technical skills to be able to use a computer or even touch it. There will be a dedicated computer centre to cater for the youth, especially in areas of JAMB and talent education acquisition.
