Kaduna FA: Normalisation committee holds stakeholders’ meeting, inaugurates appeal committee

Kaduna state Football Association Normalisation Committee has set up a six-man appeals committee ahead of the FA local and state elections, just as it deliberated with stakeholders on the modalities and programme of the elections.

Kaduna state FA Normalisation Committee Chairman, Hon. Sabo Babayaro, told the stakeholders that the appeal committee will be led by former NFF secretary general, Barr. Musa Ahmadu, with another ex-NFA scribe, former director general of the National Institute of Sports and deputy director of the Federal Ministry of Sports, Dr. Tijjani Yusuf, ex-president of Nigeria Referee Association, Alhaji Ado Maude, retired referee, Dr. Alex Manna, Kaduna state Director of Sports Development , Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim as members, while Hassan Buba will serve as Secretary.

Babayaro said the election process will start on August 11th, 2023 with affiliation for clubs, organisations and associations and end on September 9th with the election of Kaduna state FA executive committee chairman, vice chairman and members. “Sales of nomination form/submission of forms into the local government council starts 14th and closes 21st August, 2023. Sales/submission of nomination forms into the state executive committee starts 14th and ends August 24th, 2023.

“The meeting brought people together to discuss the issues and challenges. We invited the stakeholders to let them know about the election dates and programme for the local council and state council elections. The appeal committee is made of people with football knowledge but I want to make sure we made them redundant by organizing a credible election where everyone both the winners and losers will be happy without complain.”

There were complains by some stakeholders that the local council elections should hold at the various local councils instead of lumping them together at zonal levels, but Babayaro in his response told them the elections were grouped together because of paucity of funds and security reasons. He however assured the stakeholders that they would organised an open and transparent elections.

Chairman of the occasion Alhaji Kabiru Umar, represented by retired FIFA referee, Alhaji AbdulKareem Ibrahim, said loss in communication between the immediate past board chairman and board members led the state football association to the normalisation committee, while urging the incoming administration to eschew hate, embrace love and always communicate with each other.

“Kaduna state is in the forefront of football in Nigeria. We have produced top players, clubs, referees. We are on trial now and we must know how to love ourselves,” he said.

Ex-Super Eagles winger, Tijjani Babangida urged aspirants to ensure that they are the best.

“Let the Kaduna FA chairman be the best we have to offer. Let him be someone that when the country hear his name, they would say Kaduna people have spoken,” he said.
