JIBWIS harps on basic education

National chairman, Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has harped on the need for improved basic education in Nigeria.
Jingir said beside government schools, private schools should also be seen as impacting quality education in general and Islamic knowledge in specific.
He spoke at a one-day seminar organised for JIBWIS’s teachers with the theme: “Importance of Discipline in Schools Running.”

He said every country needed a sound basic education to be impacted on its citizens right from primary schools, which will in turn give way for quality education at the higher level.
Sheikh Jingir, commended on the virtues of Prophet Muhammad SAW, saying “his life and characters displayed discipline, honesty, pity, absolute dedication and fear of Allah,  all driving out of education and knowledge,” urging all Muslims to imbibe such qualities.

He said: “Education is an important thing in the life of individual that helps society and nations grows,” stressing that the importance of circular education and more importantly, Islamic knowledge cannot be over emphasise”.
According to him, JIBWIS was initiated by its founding fathers in the likes of late Sheikh Mahmud Gume and his student, late Sheikh Ismail Idris, whose lifestyles portrayed spreading of education and knowledge among people.
The seminar featured paper presentations, on the importance of unity and discipline in schools running, the role of JIBWIS, education department on schools, as well as the role of schools and their responsibilities on pupils/students
