JIBWIS blames politicians over Plateau carnage

A Jos based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has blamed the recent killings in some villages of Plateau state on ambitious politicians, saying the act should be strongly condemned by right thinking human beings.
Sheik Jingir, who is the Chairman, Council of Ulama’u Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), also condemned the blocking of highway and killing of travelers during the resurgence of the violence.
He made the condemnation at the headquarters of the group, where he called on both federal and state governments to strengthen the security forces in Plateau and other trouble states across the country to avert the recurrence of the carnage.
“Politicians should be held responsible for the killings. People should not be allowed to be used by anybody for surreptitious objectives.”
Shiekh Jingir called on government to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
The cleric berated the involvement of religious groups in protest that caused destruction of government and private properties in the state.
“It is not good for religious leaders or groups to be organising protest because that would not help the situation,” he said.
Shiekh Jingir commiserated with the state government and family of victims who were injured or killed in the carnage.
