Jalingo airport begins commercial flights

Governor of Taraba state, Darius Dickson Ishaku, yesterday said he had fulfilled one of his campaign promises that the Jalingo Airport would be put to use by December, this year.Flagging up the commercial flight operations, the governor said the airport received so much attention from his administration because of its significant economic importance.
He said with the commencement of commercial flight services by Overland Airways, the state was open to the outside global community as businessmen from all parts of the world “can fly in do business in the state and fly out when necessarily stressing themselves by travelling for hours by road from Yola in Adamawa state.
On the tourism potentials of the state, he said the state government had a helicopter service that would link tourist to the tourism destination of the Mambilla Plateau and other places.

Also speaking, the chief executive officer of Overland Airways, Captain Edward Boyo, said the company would commence daily flights by January.
He explained further that the company has flight Schedules to the airport three times in a week; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
He expressed optimism that the passengers would not be disappointed as the company was not new in opening new routes even though he new routes would always have their teething problems that could be overcome over time.
