IPAC inaugurates 4-man CMC as Ameh’s tenure ends

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has inaugurated a 4 -man-Central Management Committee (CMC) which will spans for 4 months within which it will conduct elections for the eleventh national executive committee.

According to IPAC, this is in line with the provisions of Articles 3.1(b)(c), 3.3(C)(B)(iii), 3.3(C)(C)(c)&(d) of the Council’s Code of Conduct.

Outgoing IPAC’s president, High Chief Peter Ameh, in a press conference on Friday in Abuja said “the inauguration of the central management committee is necessitated by the urgent need for a democratic transition.”

Ameh stated that the10th national executive council tenure elapsed today, September 5, 2020, and the CMC is expected to inaugurate the 11th National Executive Council after the elections.

 He announced Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as acting president, Alhaji A. A. Salam of the Labour Party (LP) as acting vice- president, Hon. Adekunle Rufai Omoaje of the Action Alliance as acting secretary general and Elder Chuks Achusi (APGA) as acting national treasurer.

The out-going IPAC boss stated that the CMC “shall within the time prescribed ensure the conduct of a free, fair and credible Executive Council Elections at the national and state levels for the 2021 IPAC Executive Council in accordance with the Code.”

He also stated that the committee would be responsible for the day to day running of the Council affairs for a period of four months certain and ensure an immediate, complete and mandatory handover of administration to newly elected 11th National Executive Council.

He said the four-month period as stated shall commence on September 5, 2020, and lapse on February 5, 2021, noting that “these dates remain sacrosanct and shall not be extended by the Committee howsoever.”
