Insecurity: Polytechnic students urge FG’s intervention in education sector

 

National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has urged the federal government to quickly intervene in the education sector and take measured steps to save it from total collapse.
Senate President of NAPS, Comrade Rio Oghale, who made the assertion while presenting an award to SAMBIS Schools International Ungwan Boro, Chikun local government area of Kaduna state on Sunday, noted that the future of the country is decided by the quality of education provided for the youths.


He lamented that the insecurity bedeviling the country was as a result of the neglect of the education sector in the past years, adding that if nothing was done to correct the anomaly, the security issue may further deteriorate. 


Speaking further, Rio said the award, which comes months after the school was presented with award of excellence by NAPS, was in recognition of the school’s support towards good education and youth development.


According to him, “the award is presented in recognition of SAMBIS International School’s passionate professional capabilities, outstanding leadership acumen, commitment, integrity and professionalism, in building better future for Nigeria via education of the youth.”


Responding, Director of SAMBIS International School, Engr. Samuel Olaniyi, expressed fear over some policies hindering the education sector. 
He said the proper education for today’s youth is a key to future peace, stability, economy prosperity and security.
He thanked NAPS leadership for the much cherished award.


Engr. Olaniyi however, expressed dismay that the insecurity bedeviling the country today was as a result of education sector’s neglected by successive governments. 
He urged the federal government to quickly intervene in the education sector to save it from total collapse.
