In Jos, ministry of health unseal Hill College of nursing

The Plateau state Ministry of health, has Tuesday, through its director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Ladi Davou Zoo, unsealed the proposed Hill College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jos.

Mrs. Zoo, who is also the state chairman of the monitoring team of Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria, said having reached an agreement with the college proprietress, Hajiya Nafisa Omar, they decided to unseal the college.

She said: “The College was sealed on 22 September, 2020, due rumours that she is training students, but she had denied that she was not training any student and she is still working towards fulfilling all requirements.”

The director said the nursing council and state ministry of health are working to ensure that every professional body fulfilled its requirements.

She the proprietor has fulfilled all requirements, except the 265 minimum of hospital bed requirement.

“We are grateful because you (Hajiya Nafisa) want to help Government,” she said.

The director urged the proprietor to do the right thing, before the college begins training, assuring her that the Nursing council would be working with her to ensure that all requirements are met.

The college proprietor, Hajiya Nafisa Omar, said as patriotic daughter of Plateau state, she has strong commitment in health care promotion particular maternal health, safe motherhood and immunisation right from tender age.

She said most of the colleges of nursing and midwifery are owned by governments, and that her college if fully established would be the private in plateau state.

“In view of the forgone, I stand gladly to notify you that I am the proprietor of the Hill College of Nursing and Midwifery, Jos, and wish to affirm to you that the aforementioned college is still in the process of establishment.

“Hence no admission or even the sale of application forms has started,” she said.

She said the college has never itself in any illegal activity.

“It may interest the general public to know that the state ministry of health accreditation team members came to the college for advisory visit, and they were very happy about what they saw.

“While the Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria will pay an official accreditation visit national activities resumes to normal as contained in a letter sent to the college,” she said.
