I feel sad killing DPO, pregnant officer- suspect

A member of armed-gang, Omogbai Sule Thursday said it was not the group’s intention to kill the DPO of Afuze Police Division in Edo state, SP Kosemani Ojo and other policemen when his gang raided the station on March 11, 2019.

According to him, the gang’s mission at the police station was to set free some of their friends detained for motorcycle theft.

‘But you know gun has a spirit… I don’t know how I pulled the trigger’, the suspect said.

Sule who was arrested alongside two other suspects said one Ahagan brought explosives which they used to blow up the station.

The state Commissioner of police,   Mohammed Danmallam  who paraded the suspects before newsmen in Benin City said they were apprehended through Hi-Tech Intelligence.

The police boss said the fleeing suspects were also rearrested and thereafter led the police to arrest other fleeing attackers.

Danmallam disclosed that two GSM belonging to the patrol and guard of Afuze police station and 1 AK 47 riffle were also recovered from the suspects.

He identified the policemen killed during the attack as ‘SP Kosemani Ojo (DPO), Insp. Sado Isaac, W/Sgt Justina Aghomon, a pregnant woman and W/PC Gloria Davids’.

‘The suspects stripped them (policemen) off their clothes and shot them dead with guns’, the CP said.
