How Rotary Club saved my family from starvation – Mother of 3

A mother of three children, Mrs Joy Allaham, has expressed appreciation to Rotary Club International and Rotary Club Zone 3 for saving her and her three children from starvation and for providing a means to educate the kids.

Rotary Club Zone 3 is made up of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

Rotary Club had presented four grinding machines to four women, who are either widowed or divorced, such as Madam Godiya Zakari, Madam Joy Allaham, Madam Victoria Odihi and Madam Victoria Ampitan.

The Rotary Club, celebrating the annual Family of Rotary Celebration at the Jamiyyar Matan Arewa, Kaduna also donated food and household items to the oldest orphanage in Northern Nigeria,  Jammiyar Matan Arewa Orphanage.

Speaking when she was presented with a grinding machine by the Rotary Club Zone 3 in Kaduna, Joy, who was divorced from her husband, but entrusted with the upkeep of her three children, could not stop weeping as she said her family has been wallowing in abject poverty and starvation with the children unable to attend school because she could not afford the fees but the grinding machine will now save them from further suffering. She prayed for the Rotary Club members who made it possible for them to be lifted from poverty.

Teary Joy Allaham said: “I’m very grateful to Rotary Club and to God. It has not been easy with us. I’m divorced with my three children in secondary school. We have been starving without money to pay school fees and nothing to do to raise money.”
