The Hadejia Emirate Development Association (HEDEF) Jigawa state has expressed sadness over the death of the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company, Malam Malam Sulaiman Baffa, who passed away on the 2nd of October, 2023.
A statement by HEDEF Chairman Board of Trustees, Pharm. Hashim Ubale Yusufu, said the association received the news of the painful loss of an accomplished gentleman and an elder statesman, who dedicated his entire life in the development of his fatherland and humanity.
HEDEF said: “On behalf of Hadejiyawa at home and abroad, we deeply mourn the demise of such an eminent personality. The vacuum created by his demise will undoubtedly be difficult to fill. We however take great consolation from the numerous services he rendered for the advancement of Nigeria and the wellbeing of millions of its citizenry.
“We therefore wish to seize this opportunity to commiserate with His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Jigawa State Governor, His Excellency Malam Umar Namadi (Danmodi) Their Royal Highnesses, the Emirs of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje and of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero.
“We particularly wish to appreciate HRH, the Emirs of Kano and Bichi, and the Governor of Jigawa State, HE Mallam Umar Namadi for sparing their time to personally attend the funeral prayers, held at Kofar-Kudu, in the vicinity of the Kano Palace, as well as the tumultuous number of people who turned out to pay the elder statesman their final respect.”
The association said Malam Baffa as an exceptionally gifted technocrat and administrator was a Permanent Secretary in the (old) Kano Civil Service, a renowned banker of great repute, he was Managing Director of two old generation banks in Nigeria; the United Bank for Africa (UBA) & Union Bank. He was Director of the Nigerian Printing & Minting Company. An immensely stout, firm and courageous personality, he was made Chairman of the Northern Socio-cultural group, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
The association prayed that Allah (SWT) in His immense mercy to grant Malam Baffa forgiveness and reward him with an exalted place in Jannah and also prayed for Allah to grant his immediate family, friends, associates and the entire Hadejia community the fortitude to endure his loss.
