Gunmen storm JUTH, kill security guard

Gunmen on Tuesday night shot dead a security guard at the gate of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), while attempting to forcefully entered it, a source has said.
Blueprint gathered from the source that the gunmen where in a car and were intercepted at the rear entrance of the hospital.
He said after the guard men working with a strike force security company had intercepted them and conducted a stop-and-search, at which some weapons were discovered, and then the gunmen opened fire.
“They injured one of the security men, who was rushed to the emergency ward, but later died,” he said.
The name of deceased was given as Mr. Fom Dakin.
When contacted for comments, the JUTH Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Ngoze Okpara, confirmed the incident, but declined further comments.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau state command, ASP Abu Emmanuel, confirmed the incident.
He said: “Yes the incident occurred Tuesday, night when some unknown gunmen tried to enter the hospital, but the efforts of the security guard and one of the police attached to them, prevented them from gaining entrance.”
The PPRO said one man was shot and died yesterday morning.
He said no arrest had been made yet, but that the police had begun investigation into the matter.
