Group to Kano politicians: Don’t drag Justice Anya into your dirty games

The Northern Youth for Justice and Fairness (NYJF) has condemned in strong terms the recent attack on the Kano state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal panelist, Justice Benson Anya

The group said through its publicity director, Malam Kabir Abdullahi, in a statement signed Monday in Kano that Justice Anya is a refined bureaucrat who knows his onus,

“The Justice Anya that we know can never stoop so low with such utterances. He’s a nationalist and a symbol of unity.

“We want to state clearly that aside politics, people should observe decorum and stand for truth in a very fragile situation that ensued in Kano state after the judgment of the tribunal.

“We want state that no amount of blackmail can deny the hard earned image of Justice Anya. He’s a man of integrity and honour. What played out after the judgment was uncalled for and should be condemned by all lovers of democracy. An affront on the judiciary is an affront on the entire nation. This is unacceptable and we come boldly to condemn it.

“If members of the tribunal panel could be openly attacked and what the party expect from these patriotic Nigerians is to sit back and act as if the scenario was normal and should be applauded. No, we cannot be strangled on the platter of ignorance, we are members of Nigerian public and we respect individual differences,” Abdullahi said.

The group also advised NNPP auditor to explore legal action in addressing any irregularities discovered in the judgment and eschew an act of hooliganism and attack on the judiciary, which is the last hope of the common man.

Abdullahi noted that the judges escaped the attack by men debunking the alleged attack and called on the state government, security apparatus in the state and well- meaning individuals to ensure that those who are involved in the dastardly act are brought to book to serve as deterrent to whoever that might be nursing such ugly aspiration.
