Gombe issues digital C of O to land, property owners

The Gombe State Geographic Information System (GOGIS) has flagged off the presentation of digital certificates of occupancy to land and property owners in the state.

Speaking during the flag-off of the presentation on Friday, the Director General of GOGIS, Kabiru Usman Hassan, said the state has captured over 14, 000 plots allocated in the state on its digital geographic information system.

He added that the agency can easily access plots anywhere in the state using the orthophoto that GOGIS has taken of all 11 local governments in the state.

He said the digital certificate was the first of its kind in the state and that the intention behind it was to sustain public confidence in digital land management.

He said: “Manual land allocation is now automated, which has accelerated the process by over 200 per cent. This helps us detect and prevent distortions, encroachment, and forgery. So many land disputes have been resolved.”

He added that GOGIS has improved the state’s internal revenue in addition to modernising land administration, as it has brought in N744 million since the start of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration.
