Ganduje swears in 44 LG interim mgt offi cers

Kano State governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has sworn in the newly appointed Interim Management Offi cers for 44 local government areas, following a rigorous screening by the state House of Assembly. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the Coronation Hall, Kano Government House yesterday, Ganduje, said their appointment was based on the premise of the confi dence reposedin them by the state government, adding that the best way to prove their worth is for them to strive to live above board.

According to him, the formation and appointment of the interim management offi ces was in line with the provision of the constitution at the expiration of the tenure of elected . Th e chairmen pointed out that no government can ever exist in a vacuum, hence their appointment to serve the people of the state with vigour and utmost diligence. He however stated that his administration had placed high premium on the issue of productivity and service delivery at the time citizens of the state placed too much expectation onthe government positing that areas of top priority had been made to maintain its prominence for the issue of governance to thrive .

‘He pointed out that in an ideal democratic setting, leaders in the position of authority were expected to live above board in order to serve as a source of emulation to their followers stressing that where such a great responsibility was shirked the citizens confi dence would be eroded completely. He said his administration had empowered the State Public Complaints and Anti- corruption Commission to discharge its responsibility devoid of any obstacle or impediment affi rming that the spectacular strides it had eff ected since the coming of his administration on board was a real case in point. He said that the issue of probity, accountability and transparency in governance was an indispensable aspect of credible and selfl ess leadership stressing however that the dividends of democracy could only be feasible, realistic and sustainable if the political elite live up to expectation
