FUD Teaching Hospital’s location still being considered-Minister

 

The Federal University Teaching Hospital, Dutse’s location is still under consideration, Minister for Health, Professor Emmanuel Osagie has said. The two places being considered are the state capital, Dutse and Birninkudu.

This came to light when the minister  took a tour of Rasheed Shokoni Hospital, Dutse and the Federal Medical Centre, Birninkudu, with a view to chose a place for the teaching hospital.

He visited Jigawa state and said the tour and inspection of facilities at the two hospitals would enable him  write a constructive and comprehensive report to the president to enable him make a final decision on which one to be chosen.

At the deputy governor’s office, Alhaji Umar Namadi told the minister that the state government has already released Rasheed Shokoni Specialist Hospital two years ago to Federal University, Dutse, as its Teaching Hospital.

The deputy governor emphasised that “having the Teaching Hospital here in Dutse, the state capital and having the Federal Medical Centre at Birninkudu is a great achievement in health sector for the entire state.”

Also, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Mohammadu Sanusi, said he is ready to support any choice of the Teaching Hospital by the federal government, because the two are located in his emirate.

Although the two hospitals are located in his emirate but the Emir of Dutse said he will prepare the one that cannot be too stressful to the students during their academic works.

While Vice Chancellor, Federal University Dutse, Professor Fatima Batul Muktar told  the minister that  the institution has made a choice of Rasheed Shokoni for a Teaching Hospital.
