Fintiri calls for more counter measures against insurgency

The governor-elect of Adamawa state, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, Thursday in Yola, called for more counter measures by the military to contain attacks by insurgents in the state.

Fintiri, who made this call in a statement through his media aide, Mr Solomon Kumangar, condole with victims of the Tuesday attacks by insurgents in Madagali local government area of Adamawa.

He expressed concern on the attacks on ‘soft targets’ in Madagali and called for more deployment of troops in parts of the area bordering Sambisa forest, which currently might be porous.

Fintiri, who expressed confidence in the ability of the security to checkmate the incessant attacks, said this could be possible by taking counter measures through the deployment of more troops to the area.

He expressed sympathy with the families of those who lost their lives and the injured.

Fintiri,, who hailed from Madagali local government, reiterated his commitment when sworn in as governor to work with security agencies and all stakeholders to address security challenges in the state. (NAN)
