Fifth Chukker Access Bank Charity Tournamnet kicks off in style

The annual polo tournament organised by Fifth Chukker Polo and Country Club, Kaduna, which started on Sunday, began in a grand style, as all the big names expected to be part of the 2015 Access Bank Charity tournament are already in town.

As usual, the venue of the tournament at kilometer 2 Mararrabar Jos, was in colourful design by main sponsored company brand.
The Kaduna state Govenour-lect, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Barnabas Bala Bantex, has appealed to corporate organisations and other stakeholders to continue to support the game of polo so as to further promote the sports in the state and the nation at large.
Bantex disclosed that sports development in the state would not only create job opportunities to the youth but would also help in promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.
He assured the organisers of the event that the incoming APC lead government will continue to support the promotion and development of sports in the state.
Also speaking in an interview with newsmen, the Argentine Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Gustavo DZugala, and the Managing Director of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) Limited, Mr Ibrahim Boyi, had said the tournament promises to be very exciting as it would parade some of the biggest names in the Nigerian polo fraternity as well as some top polo stars from Argentina and Europe.

In the first match played, MTN team defeated Akasma team 7- 3 1/2 goals while in the second match played, Fifth Chukker team demolished Kangimi Resort team by 3 goals to 2.
Some of the dignitaries present included the deputy head of mission of the EU, the Polish ambassador, the Egyptian ambassador, the Italian ambassador, and representatives of the Swiss embassy, among others.
The tournament is expected to last for seven days and will end on May 31, 2015.
