FG set to improve ease of doing business, attract investments

The Federal Government has restated its commitment to foster an environment that empowers entrepreneurs, nurtures innovation and attract investments.

The move aimed at significantly improving ease of doing business is contained in the Executive Order No 1 of 18th May 2017.

As required, Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government MDAs are expected to publish the services they provide, as well as the requirement for accessing such services.

Speaking at the workshop on the guidelines for the incorporation of companies limited by guarantee Ltd/GTE, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mrs Beatrice Jeddy-Agba, stated that the guidelines were designed to achieve consistency in the processing of applications for the mandatory authority, stakeholders, including members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Corporate Affairs Commission, promoters of companies limited guarantee and others.

Agba who doubles as the Solicitor General of the Federation added: “These guidelines, the first of its kind in Nigeria have therefore been produced to cover a wide range of issues connected with the subject matter.”

She then assured that special care has been taken to address challenges and issues commonly associated with the processing of applications for the Attorney-General’s authorization.

While delivering a welcome address at the workshop, the Director Solicitors Department, Mrs Gladys Odegbaro described the workshop as an avenue to deepen understandings of the regulatory framework governing companies limited by guarantee and to promote a seamless registration process.

She thereafter, urged participants to ensure that that their organisations operate in full compliance with the law while maintaining transparency and accountability.
