Fencing Federation holds coaches’ development programme in Lagos

As a way of complementing the great potential that the country exhibited at the last African Junior and Cadet Championship held last March in Lagos, the Nigeria Fencing Federation is embarking on a benevolent coaching development porgramme.
According to the federation, the programme is aimed at raising sufficient number of coaches to meet the demands of fencers in both public and private primary schools in Southwest Nigeria – Nigeria’s developing hub for the sport.
The event is scheduled for June 19 – 25 at Rowe Park Sports Complex and is supported by the Nigeria Olympic Committee and the Lagos State Sports Commissions. It is open to male and female coaches who are 25 years and above with combat sporting experience.
The coaches’ development programme creates job opportunities with a large focus on South west at the end of the programme the coaches will be certified and equipped with the necessary tools to work.
The week-long programme will be conducted by Lukasz Szymanski and Patricia Aiyenuro and coaches are to send their CV’s to [email protected].
Pole Szymanski is s Double Master’s degree holder in sports science and psychology and has 22 years’ experience as a fencing coach of kids, cadets, juniors and senior. He is also a former national junior coach of Poland and an assistant polish national coach.
Aiyenuro, on her part, hold a PHD in Medical Entomology and MSC in Health promotion from the South Bank University. She is the Team manager of the British Fencing team and the chairperson of Camden Fencing Club. She was the head of the Organizing Committee of the 2018 African Junior and Cadet fencing Championship in March in Lagos.
