FCTA fortifies Orphanages

Following the sudden disappearance of a 14-year-old boy from the Gwako Orphanage Home in Gwagwalada area council, the Secretary, Social Development Secretariat (SDS), Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Oladimeje Ali-Hassan, has ordered the fortification of orphanages in the Territory.
The secretary who gave the name of the boy as Moses Audi who hailed from Kaduna state, disclosed that the police has intensified efforts to trace the boy with a view to returning him to the home. He further revealed that the boy, who was brought to the secretariat by the police on March 13, 2018, suddenly disappeared on March 28, 2018, from Gwako Orphanage Home after 15 days, just as he gave the assurance that the police were on top of the situation. He said: “The boy in question was identified by the police as Moses Audi, 14, who hails from Kaduna.
The secretariat took custody of the boy as part of its mandate on that same day and took him to Gwako orphanage home. Two weeks after, the coordinator of the Home reported that the boy had escaped from the home with some cash and valuable items. “From the reports available, it is very clear that the street boy escaped because of the regimented nature of the home and he has records of criminal tendencies.
But I want to assure residents of FCT that the police are on top of the situation and the boy in question will be fished out. I have also ordered for security to be beefed up in all our orphanage homes in the Territory.”
