Software on ease of doing business unveiled for solid mineral sector

The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has taken another leap in the way of accessing the abundant mineral deposits in the country.

This is the official launch of Nigeria Mining Resource Decision Support System Software, which is like a one-stop-shop of making it easy for potential investors to tap into the mineral resources in the country.

Unveiling the software in Abuja on Tuesday, the minister of solid minerals development Dr Dele Alake said the event is crucial to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu “because it creates a critical instrument for economic growth and development.”

According to Alake, “International investment marketing recognises that many countries are running the race to attract foreign direct investments. We meet each other at mining conferences, display samples of our minerals and try to convince as many callers as possible that Nigeria is the best destination, yet the struggle to be on top of the attraction game continues.

“Generating investors traffic require the deployment of strategies to gain competitive advantage. Technology has offered new ways to achieve that strategy.

“What we are here to launch today is a game changer. It is the most investor-friendly magnet that has ever happened in this industry as it seeks to cut the cost of investment research.

“Today, we record a giant leap in investment prospecting. From the comfort of your office anywhere in the world, you can click the website of the Nigerian Minerals Resource Decision Support System and right before your eyes are the data that would have cost you air tickets to access six months ago.

“There is no doubt in my mind that, when fully operational, it would demonstrate the seriousness of this administration about investment promotions and accelerate the setting up of businesses in the mining sector.”

The minister noted that since inauguration in August 2023, he has marketed Nigerian solid minerals to the outside world because global attention was drifting from fossil oil to solid minerals and that was why President Tinubu graciously posted him to the ministry.

The minister of interior Olubunmi Ojo who graced the occasion appreciated the president over his passion for the mineral sector, saying on the long run, Nigerians would be the beneficiaries.

The Nigeria Mineral Resource Decision Support System otherwise known as DSS is a comprehensive software platform that serves as a one stop shop for investors who would be in need of credible and decisive information about Nigeria’s mineral resources, facilities and infrastructure.
