Equities market opens week with N42bn leap

The domestic equities market Monday opened the week on a positive note, appreciating by N42 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.14 per cent to close at N30.291 trillion from N30.249 trillion it close on Friday.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 76.36 basis points to 55605.57 points from 55529.21 points reported the previous day.

An analysis of the Investment showed that Julius Berger led gainers table in percentage terms, gaining 10 per cent to close at N26.95 per share, Unity Bank followed with a gain of 9.26 per cent to close at N0.59 per unit, International Energy Insurance added 8.33 per cent to close at N1.30 per share, Live Stock Feeds gained 4.47 per cent to close at N1.12 per unit, Chams gained 4.0 per cent to close at N0.26 per share.

On the other hand,CWG topped losers chart during the day in percentage terms, declining by 7.14 per cent to close at N0.91per share, FTNCocoa trailed with a loss of 6.67 per cent to close at N0.28 per unit, Oando Plc down 4.39 per cent to N4.36 per share, Courtvellle Business Solutions dipped by 4.17 per cent to close at N0.46, Japaul Gold down by 3.45 per cent to close at N0.28 per unit.

Volume of trades during the day declined by 83.54 per cent as Investors traded 123.545 million shares valued at N2.483 billion.in 4016 deals against 750.791 million shares valued at N2.662 billion in 3962 deals.
