Minister of Interior, Lt. General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (retd) has observed the need to institute the culture of espirit-de-corps amongst security personnel, especially officers in the junior cadre.
This, he observed, will promote friendliness, team spirit and unity amongst the various services in charge of internal security in the country.
According to him, this will also help eliminate professional envy and culminate in the brilliantsharing of intelligence necessary for effective tackling of criminalities.

Dambazau, a former Chief of Army Staff and one of Africa’s celebrated scholars in the field of criminal justice, was appointed late last year by President Muhammandu Buhari to restructure the nation’s internal security sector.
On assuming office to supervise an enlarged interior ministry, which now has the Police in addition to other agencies such as the Immigration, Prison Service, Civil Defense, and  Federal Fire service, the minister  saw the need  to tactfully integrate these  agencies to build a formidable internal security structure.

With the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps complimenting the Police in tackling rising security concerns, and Immigration Services manning the nation’s border post, he noted that criminality will be greatly reduced when these services form alliance amongst themselves, saying that is one the simplest ways to dealing with the nation’s security challenges.
