Ekiti indigenes yet to key into FG economic recovery programmes – Minister

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo has said Ekiti indigenes are yet to take advantage of the federal government’s Economic Recovery programmes to improve their economic wellbeing.

Adebayo who spoke through an aide, Idowu Adeniyi during the distribution of food stuffs, including rice and other items to vulnerable people in the state, also solicited the support of the people for both the state and federal government.

While saying that the state would continue to enjoy federal presence like other states of the federation, Adebayo urged indigenes of Ekiti State to participate in the FG’s economic recovery and stimulus programme for their own benefits.

He listed the economic stimulus programme to include N15 billion Guaranteed Offtake Scheme, N50 billion MSME Survival Fund and N10 billion Survival Fund for Transport workers.

He noted that many people in the state have keyed into these programmes, just as he called on many in the state to take advantage of the programmes to improve on their economic wellbeing.

He noted that the programmes were put in place for the good of Nigerians and devoid of partisan or religious sentiments as all Nigerians are expected participate for their economic wellbeing.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Ifedayo Sayo on Monday, Adebay disclosed that Bank of Industry (BoI) would soon begin the construction of its branch in the state.

He said the land for the building project has been acquired and certificate of occupancy issued to it by the state government.

Also, the National Automobile Design Development Council (NADDC) has acquired a land in the state capital, Ado-Ekiti for the building of a mechatronics training centre.

He explained that the land for the building of the training centre has been acquired and certificate of occupancy issued.

The Minister said the two projects will start in the first quarter of the year adding that the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) building has been completed in the state and ready for commissioning.

“Besides, the Industrial Training Fund is in the process of acquiring a land for its own building in the state,” he said.

He lauded many indigenes of the state who participated in the training programme organised by SMEDAN and urged them to put to use knowledge acquired from the training.
