Accounting Practice: A fresh perspective to taxation

Accounting students, Accountants and tax administrators in the country who want to broaden their horizons in fiscal legislation are in for fresh approaches to taxation matters with the presentation of a book: “A Compendium of Contemporary Taxation Issues in Nigeria.”

The ten chapter book was authored by Michael A. Popoola. Popoola, an expert in the science of taxation is the pioneer Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC).
The author explained that the book evolved from the need to address some noticeable lacunas in the nation’s tax system and ensure citizens’ voluntary compliance with tax laws amid dwindling oil prices in the international market.

He added that the book encompasses the Nigerian tax system covering areas such as- Company Income Tax, Personal Income Tax, Oil and Gas taxation, Value Added Tax and Education Tax with special attention to Self Assessment and Value Added Tax.
According to him, tax practitioners, accountants and hardworking students of tertiary institutions across the country will find this new book useful and a good companion in the areas of taxation matters in particular and accounting practice in general. The book is billed for presentation in Lagos on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
