Doctors’ strike: Sack health minister now, APC chieftain urges Buhari

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Garus Gololo, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to “urgently sack the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.”

Speaking with our correspondent in Abuja, Gololo said Nigerians did not expect the nation’s doctors to be allowed to go on strike “at the moment,” adding that President Buhari had released enough money for the Covid-19, including the donations from the private people.

“How will they allow our doctors to go on strike? Honestly, the minister should be sent packing; he should be held responsible for the death of any patient. Nigerians have already seen that he is not capable to be there as a minister. Our president released money for the Covid-19; so, why can’t they settle the doctors’ demands from the money?

“If the minister of health and others that are not performing are not sacked, I would lead a team of lawyers to court to protest because it is an embarrassment to the nation for this kind of. The judiciary and the local governments should also be given their autonomy for them to do their work effectively,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gololo has commended President Buhari for appointing Usman Alkali Baba as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), noting that the president’s action should be applicable to the minister of health.
