Death of Bukar Ibrahim huge loss to Nigeria – Mark, Kalu 

 

Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, have described the death of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, as huge loss to Nigeria.

Senator Ibrahim who governed Yobe State in the current 4th republic from 1999 to 2007 and served in the Senate for Yobe East from 2007 to 2019, died in Saudi on Sunday and buried in accordance with Islamic rites. 

David Mark in a condolence message issued in Abuja on Monday, noted that Senator Ibrahim was a true democrat who promoted participatory democracy, especially, during his stint as governor of Yobe state and as Yobe East Senator from 2007 to 2019. 

The statement read: “His contributions to the parliament through robust debate on motions and bills were remarkable. He was outstanding in all his assignments.

“Senator Ibrahim was an advocate of  peace and unity  of Nigeria.

“He was a reliable and dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to the development of Yobe state and Nigeria at large.

“Senator Ibrahim was a true democrat and a bridge builder who worked tirelessly to promote unity, peace, and progress in Nigeria. He was a key figure in the nation’s political landscape for many years. 

“The death of a man of foresight such as Senator Ibrahim is indeed a huge loss. He will be sorely missed.”

Senator Kalu in his own condolence expressed sadness over the passing of former Governor of Yobe state, Senator Ibrahim.

 “I mourn the passing of the former Governor of Yobe state, Senator Bukka Abba Ibrahim.

“He was a compassionate and selfless leader.

“The late politician played remarkable roles in the development of Yobe state and by extension, Nigeria. He will be sorely missed because his death is a huge loss to not only Yobe State but Nigeria.”
