Dankwambo receives UNILAG Best Governor ward

Gombe state Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, was on Saturday conferred with the Best Governor award by the management of the University of Lagos.

A press statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Abu-Ubaida Ibrahim Kuna and made available to Blueprint yesterday, said the award was presented to the PDP governor at a ceremony in the University for his contributions to the development of the state and the society.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, who presented the award on behalf of the University management, said the award was to recognise hard work and the outstanding achievements of the dynamic governor in the various sectors, particularly the development of the state economy and the country as a whole.

He said the governor, “in the midst of the current economic challenges in the country, has not failed to pay salaries of Gombe civil servants, which shows that he is a through-bred leader and manager of scarce resources.” In addition, he said the prestigious award was given to Dankwambo for his contributions to education as his first, second and third priority.

The management of the University therefore congratulated the governor for the honour and called on him to continue to up his ante in the development strides of the “Jewel in the Savannah.”
